Its a smaller area to defend and extremely hard for the AI to break. Once you achieve the bonus objective, retreat up the ramp to the high ground. (I usually have to start killing my own units in order to end the mission) Carriers are strong vs basically everything that gets thrown at you, and if you get enough of them the AI basically cannot break you. If you survive to Carriers you should be able to win the rest of the mission without problems. They are great at focusing down Hybrid and the larger Zerg units that start Attacking. Once you make it to Void Rays, stop pumping Colossus and start getting out more Voids. After that I just spam them on top of the ramp. This will dramatically reduce the firepower of the early waves.Īny extra minerals you have should go toward cannons. Use them to focus air units and to lift up Hybrids. Keep your Phoenix on a separate control group from the rest of your army. Replace lost Phoenix if you lose any, they add a lot of utility to your early game army. You want to have a group of about 10 Colossus by the time Void Rays are unlocked. Your focus early game should be on Colossus, Phoenix and Upgrades. It will mess with enemy pathing, and it is a long time before waves start adding detection.

You also don't really need the money.Įarly on you want to build building walls with a single hole in them. Its more area to cover, and the attacks are harder to funnel. I actually find it easier to beat this mission when I don't take the gold. Some smart base design and good unit choices will get you through it. I got through it on brutal without too many problems.

As you get close to your goal, remember that enemy units are all worth the same amount, so each Zergling you kill is worth just as much as a Hybrid. You can also take advantage of terrain to attack ground units that can't reach you. Throwing an occasional Vortex down can help a lot. It might take some experimentation to identity exactly when it's time to do this.Īs it gets to the late part of the mission make sure that Artanis' Mothership is in the back of your army but still close enough to cloak everything and try to focus on Overseers and units with anti-air attacks. When the initial area starts to get overrun, falling back to the high ground a little early is preferable to losing a lot of units. As more units become available I gradually switch my focus entirely to air units. I also use Zeratul's Void Prison on Ultralisks here and there. But, most importantly, I use the Phoenixes Graviton Beam to pick up every Hybrid I can. I make sure to put all my air units in a separate control group to take out Brood Lords and Mutalisks that are attacking from odd angled. I keep more units in production and keep building more Photon Cannons, including on top of the ramps for later when I have to fall back.Īs soon as Phoenixes are available I build a couple extra Stargates. I begin with a mixed ground army, plenty of Cannons, and Colossi on the high ground. I get a bunch of Dark Templar out early on because several waves pass before the enemy brings detection. I immediately build an extra Cybernetics Core and Forge and start doing air upgrades. Other than that, bunkers, siege tanks, and psi emitter/hive mine emulators on each entrance, and a force of marine/medic/marauder to deal with Kerrigan. Even on brutal the zerg won't put up more than a few spore crawlers for defense and nydus worms fold like paper. Make sure you have banshees fully upgraded, then have a kill squad of 8-10 to wander around the map and snipe nydus worms. Especially on normal this is probably the most key thing, don't let your bank stack up.įor All In (Ground), it's in my opinion the much easier of the two All Ins. Heroes do pretty high damage, and shouldn't be wasted early.

With gas heavy comps you should have a lot.

After the archive is done (if you care about it) fall back to the high ground near your base and spam cannons with all the spare minerals you have. There are a number of comps you can do to win, personally I like solid void ray and colossus. I keep Urun and his group of phoenixes on a hotkey to attack fliers that come around your flanks. They scale really well into the later game. Get a bunch of forges and cybernetics cores to pump them out. Eventually you will lose it but the extra income will kickstart your forces. Establish a base there before the first attack wave and saturate it. To the west of your base there's a gold mineral field. Start the game by building probes and upgrading everything. The composition doesn't really matter, though I tend to have a void ray army by the end of the game. You have to keep making units, constantly. In Utter Darkness is a pretty rough one to get but very doable on normal, even for the achievement.
